There are two factory bolts on each side that have to be removed this one comes out, and this one comes out. Leave this one in its place. You don't have to touch that one. The other attachment point will be this hole here. This is identical on both sides. The truck's prepared, now we can install our hitch up on the frame. Temporarily install it by a couple of bolts to hold it in place, then we can work our other bolts in. Just so you know we used two bolts which we'll come back to later to install the spacers that go behind the hitch and the frame. With your temporary bolts in position you can put the hitch up where it's supposed to go and we still have plenty of movement to go around. Going back to the first bolt we put in, we take that out and there's a washer that goes between the hitch and the frame.
We install that, then we re-install the bolt. If you notice we used the screwdriver to push up against this edge here to push the hitch up. It was a little bit off when we left everything loose still, weird stuff like that can happen. We just pushed it up against this and pushed our hitch the way we wanted it and we put the bolt in. Now we can tighten everything down and be done with it. With all the bolts down, we can do our final torquing. To finish our installation all we have to do is put the spare tire back up in its original spot and you're through. We did this on a 2007 Nissan Xterra, part # 75291.
